Organisations either build processes or use tools to ensure the improved “monitoring of IT assets”. This is a systematic approach to identify, assess, and manage the IT assets. Let’s see how Syncious helps its customers to manage their IT infrastructure effectively.
Many customers use SyncHPC for their HPC/AI or VDI workloads. In this process, SyncHPC provides lot of data and matrices to “monitor” the IT assets of these workload. Hence, Syncious provided same functionality to customer’s generic IT assets outside these existing workloads. This triggered our team to provide a platform (SyncInfra) to “monitor” generic types of IT assets with key details.
It will be more interesting to know how SyncInfra works efficiently to monitor both cloud and on-premise IT assets. Now, IT assets can be Laptops, Workstations, Servers, VMs, storage, network, software licenses, etc. There are multiples of assets at different physical locations or in cloud. SyncInfra can scan the required set of assets and start monitoring them at real time. This helps IT team to get notification of any irregular activity. Also, it helps IT support team to easily reach the point of issue (say a particular workstation or a VM) from single place.
SyncInfra monitors large number of parameters for every asset. It not only covers all the hardware monitoring including peripheral devices but it covers to the level of software applications, users, firewalls, event logs, networks, ets. IT team can monitor and handle everything from single platform. In fact, IT team can even identify the issues even before user raises a ticket. Also, even if user raises a ticket, then monitoring and reaching to a specific point of failure will be very easy with SyncInfra.
Some of the key use-cases of SyncInfra are as below:
1. Automatic Detection: SyncInfra generates the notifications and email alerts whenever it identifies an issue. Some of the examples of automatic detection are: 1. An asset is running beyond its required threshold limit of a specific parameter, 2. A critical event is logged, 3. Antivirus detected a vulnerability, etc.
2. User Reported Issues: SyncInfra improves resolution time of user reported issues significantly. If user raises the ticket, then support engineer can easily search the asset in SyncInfra. Then, he/she can check all the required parameters of that asset. It will also check if any specific notification or guidance provided by SyncInfra for that asset. SyncInfra can support to access the asset from same window. Hence, support team can login to that asset from same window.
3. Inventory Tracking for Audit: SyncInfra helps to scan and track the IT asset inventory and their history for audit and tracking purpose. Any changes in these assets will be capture in the audit logs.
4. Monitoring and Reporting : SynInfra monitors to track the health and performance of assets. This includes monitoring system uptime, resource utilization, and network traffic. Generate regular reports on their status, utilization, and performance.
5. Optimization and Planning: SyncInfra Analyses asset usage and performance data to plan for future capacity needs. This helps in making informed decisions about upgrades or expansions of the resources. It optimizes the resource allocation based on asset utilization and performance metrics. This analytics helps to understand overall utilization of system as well as plan for next budgeting cycle.
Conclusion
IT Infra Asset management is essential for maintaining operational efficiency and ensuring smooth working of operations. All the 5 use-cases mentioned above are critical for the productivity and optimization of IT resouces.
